WHO WE ARE

Since 1938 the Association of Teachers of Mathematics of New York  City (ATMNYC) has been serving public, private and parochial school teachers, math coaches, math chairs, math coordinators, region personnel and students in the largest school system in the United States.  The purpose of our organization is to promote interest in Mathematics in the Greater New York area, especially in the elementary and secondary fields.

The Association holds conferences in the Fall and Spring where speakers, on levels from primary through college grades, present workshops on topical subjects of interest to many.  Exhibitors from a variety of publishing companies are always on hand to display their materials and provide additional assistance to those attending the conferences.

In addition to these day-long conferences, the Association has on many occasions sponsored after-school workshops on special topics which have been requested by our membership.  The location of these workshops is rotated to better serve everyone.

The executive board of ATMNYC has as its members teachers from many different levels and schools:  from college professors to assistant principals; from district math coordinators to elementary teachers; from public intermediate schools to private high schools.  The organization is proud of the cross-section of the City represented by its hard-working board.  The board meetings, held once a month, are open to any member of ATMNYC who is interested in the inner workings of the organization.  Please feel free to join us!

BENEFITS OF MEMBERSHIP IN ATMNYC

The Association of Teachers of Mathematics of New York City has two official publications which it sends to all its members:

Partial Summation, our newsletter, is published several times each year and contains current information about upcoming events sponsored not only by the Association but also by other mathematical organizations.

Summation is the official journal of ATMNYC and is published two times each year.  Included in issues of Summation are articles by our members as well as other mathematics professionals from across the nation.  Besides articles and book reviews, each issue also includes a note from our president, a problem and/or puzzle page, and news about upcoming conferences.

All dues-paying members automatically receive all publications as well as reduced rates for all conferences and workshops. Membership is based on a 12-month term (not a school year), and can be purchased for either a one-year ($12) or a three-year period ($30).

To join, please fill out the Membership Form and send to ATMNYC.
